Refresh, tone and tighten the skin with this scientifically proven treatment!
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich-Plasma and has many incredible benefits for the skin. It uses your own cells, which makes it an incredibly natural, safe procedure that works to regenerate the skin and rewind the ageing process.
What is PRP?
PRP is an extract of your own blood that contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors and bio-active proteins that are essential for tissue regeneration and healing. We use it for skin rejuvenation because when it is injected superficially into the skin, it initiates a stem cell response that will kickstart the body to form new collagen, elastin and blood vessels to repair and regenerate the skin. This results in fresh, healthy skin that is glowing!
What are the benefits?
Published, scientific research has proven that when used for skin revitalisation, the benefits of PRP include:
- Improved texture, tone, clarity and overall health
- A reduction in wrinkles and fine lines
- An improvement in pigmentation and aged skin
- Reduction in dark circles under the eyes
- Minimised appearance of scars
- Accelerates hair growth in desired areas
- Stronger collagen and elastin, creating better elasticity in the skin
PRP can also be successfully used to treat thinning and loss of hair, particularly male pattern baldness. It is important to start treatment early if this is the case and suitability for this treatment will be discussed during your consultation.
What happens in the treatment?
Your nurse will take between 10-30ml of your blood and then place it in a specialised centrifuge to spin. Here is where all the fun starts! This process will separate the most nutrient-rich properties (your platelets and plasma) and then inject this superficially into the desired treatment area(s). These platelets release growth factors that will tell the cells to form new collagen and rejuvenate the skin from within.
What should you expect post treatment?
There is usually mild to moderate swelling in the treated area(s), the skin may feel warm and be visibly red. This is all part of the activation of the platelets and the controlled inflammatory response (which we want) so your body works hard to rejuvenate the skin. There is a risk of bruising and for some, there may be a few days where the skin may be swollen.
How soon will you see results?
A treatment course of 3 treatments every 4 weeks is needed for optimum results. Our clients typically notice an improvement in skin tone and elasticity first. Over the following 3 months after the first treatment, the collagen production will increase and the real results will show. A series of 3 treatments can continue to see results for 1-2 years! As the injected product is 100% your own, results can vary with lifestyle factors including smoking, stress and illness.
Is PRP for me?
There are some contraindications that would determine suitability for this treatment. These include ladies who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. We also don’t recommend this treatment for people on anti-coagulation medication, who have autoimmune conditions, have endured any type of cancer or who have implants in the desired treatment area. Our Nurse will go through your medical history to ensure this treatment is the best one for your skin goals.
Does PRP work well with Anti-Wrinkle?
Absolutely! PRP and Anti-Wrinkle are the ultimate rejuvenation combo! Anti-Wrinkle Injections offer an excellent smoothing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. We offer an Anti-Wrinkle add-on to our PRP which provides a strong enhancement to the results of the PRP treatment.
